Thanks to Nadia for stopping by TheBoldWay!
Nadia Hallgren is the director of Becoming, the Netflix documentary on Michelle Obama, one of the top five most-watched nonfiction films of all time.
Born in the Bronx to an on-and-off postman father and a domestic worker mother, without ever attending film school, she earned her stripes over 15 years behind the camera: production assistant on Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, then cinematographer at the post–civil war tribunals in Sierra Leone, inside the busiest maternity ward in the world in the Philippines, and alongside attorney Ben Crump in the homes of American families bereaved by police violence.
Today a Netflix-signed director on Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE and the Victoria Beckham series, she comes to tell us how she landed the role of a lifetime opposite Michelle Obama, what she learned with a front-row seat to the best and worst of humanity, and why, in her view, real success is only ever built on the long game.
