Anna Caradeuc has built a career around a question every independent creative in New York City eventually faces: how do you sustain yourself without betraying the work?

In this special New York episode, the French-Italian creative consultant takes us inside the studios of American artist and designer Natalie Weinberger, Polish photographer Dominik Tarabanski and Korean designer Minjae Kim. We discover their studio spaces and the objects they make, and we learn about the wider community that allows these independent practices to exist.

Anna also retraces her own unconventional path, from Sciences Po Paris and an early ambition to work in the music industry to Ace Hotel, freelance consulting, launching the nonprofit Contributions Design and joining the rising design consultancy The Last Agency. She explains how she accompanies emerging and established designers, helping them define their positioning, hone in on their storytelling and steadily gain visibility in the industry by reaching galleries, collectors and the press.

The conversation explores the realities of running an independent studio in New York City, the pressure to produce endless content to support the work and ensure you’re always part of the conversation, the role of collaboration and the tension of a city where limitless opportunity coexists with constant pressure.
